Why it suits a classroom

Error messages in plain words

When something goes wrong, the output shows the line number, Python's own message, and a hint written for beginners. The line number turns red in the margin.

Five-minute challenges

  1. Change the guessing game so the number goes up to 100.
  2. Add a message when it takes more than 5 tries.
  3. In "Loop: times table", print the 12 times table instead.
  4. In "Turtle: square", draw a triangle. Hint: three sides, turn 120.

FAQ

Is it safe for kids?

There are no ads, no chat, no accounts and no tracking. Code runs in the browser and is not sent to us.

What age is it for?

Kids who can read and type, usually from about age 9 or 10. Younger kids often start with turtle drawings.

Can kids lose their work?

The latest code on each page is saved in the browser on that device. Shared or school computers may clear it, so have kids press Share and keep the link.

Does it cost anything?

No. The editor is free. A paid classes option for teachers is planned.

Pro for teachers: classes

Make a class and assign exercises with one link. Students open it, write their code and press Submit with just a name you choose for them. No student accounts and no student emails. You see every student's code and output in one list, and can run any of them.

This is an early project. Leave your email and we'll write only about the Pro version.
